🍿 If you walked into a movie theater in March 1987… which ticket are you buying? 🎟️

Most people might grab a seat for Lethal Weapon, the buddy-cop action film that launched one of the biggest franchises of the late 80s. But that same month also gave audiences a wildly different mix of movies—from the quirky Coen Brothers comedy Raising Arizona to the romantic fantasy Mannequin.

While Mannequin would go on to become the biggest box office hit released that month, Lethal Weapon became the most culturally influential, kicking off a franchise that ran for decades. And Raising Arizona, though modest at the box office, eventually became one of the most beloved cult comedies of the 1980s.

Not a bad month at the movies.

So be honest…
what are you watching first? 🍿

Is THIS the most iconic piece of Atari imagery? 🖼️
The box art typically did the heavy lifting for its 8-bit classics ... helping bring the games to life.

Defender was no different (even though the arcade version was wildly popular at the time).

Of course, my favorite part of this Steve Hendrick's masterpiece is the Star Wars-inspired spaceship firing those laser beams.

Did you play Defender on the 2600 back in the day?

LINK IN COMMENTS … He-Man and the Masters of the Universe made its first animated appearance in a Mattel commercial a year before Filmation’s animated series began! Mind. Blown. The year was 1982, and Mattel was looking to boost sales of its He-Man figures and beloved, Castle Grayskull playset. They called on Filmation to create this initial animation, which would pave the way for the animated He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series in 1983. This commercial stars He-Man, Teela, Man-At-Arms, Skeletor, Beast Man, and Mer-Man.

When Macaulay Culkin shared the photo of his old Game Boy, fans immediately felt there was more to it than nostalgia. The device was a gift from John Candy during the filming of Uncle Buck, at a time when Culkin was still young, shy, and finding his footing. It was never about the game itself, it was about the care behind the gesture.

On set, Candy became a quiet source of comfort. He had a way of making people feel safe, and with Macaulay, that gentleness came naturally. Between long shooting days, shared meals, and easy laughter, Candy made sure the young actor never felt lost or overwhelmed. When he surprised Culkin with the Game Boy on Thanksgiving, it wasn’t flashy, it was thoughtful, and it meant everything.

Decades later, the fact that Culkin still has that Game Boy speaks volumes. It is not just an object he kept, it is a memory he protected. For him, it represents John Candy’s generosity, warmth, and love, a bond that never faded. In that small piece of plastic lives a lifetime of gratitude, and the reminder that the simplest kindness can last forever.
