With my grandpa’s birthday coming up, I restored this photo of his sister, Marilyn, who passed away years ago. She began her career as a social worker before becoming a police officer. This loved photo had an unwelcome visitor. Water! It was still in the frame and unfortunately the glass was stuck to parts of the photo. But after about 6+ hours of restoration, I was able to make my client a new 16x20 print! I love my job!

Meet Jacq.
Owner and Digital Artist

Photographs have always been important in my life. If something happens, chances are I’ve already taken a picture of it. I even dabbled in photography back in the day, and now my house looks like a cozy gallery — every room has snapshots of family moments and memories.

On the personal side: my husband and I have been married since 2004, and we live in Minnesota with our two amazing daughters, Lila and Brielle. They keep life full of laughter, chaos, and lots of photo ops.

A few things I LOVE:
• Jesus (top of the list, always)
• Antique shopping dates with my husband
• Star Wars — especially The Empire Strikes Back (because let’s be honest, it’s the best one)
• Food that makes my eyes water (spicy = happiness)
• Getting lost in a great book
• Rainy days (the perfect excuse to watch movies)
• My circle of amazing friends​

My Experience:
I started in the darkroom in high school and college, back when “filters” meant red light and chemicals. Later, I worked in photo labs, where I saw my fair share of damaged photos — little fragments of people’s lives in need of saving.

Since 2007, I’ve restored more than 1,500 images and edited over 3,400 photos. Every project is personal for me. I don’t just see spots, scratches, or faded colors — I see family history, untold stories, and memories worth keeping alive. Each restoration is a little labor of love.

This is a beloved photo of a grandmother in her younger years. She recently passed away, and this was the photo they chose to honor her at the memorial service. I’m so glad I was able to help preserve her memory!

This was a restoration for a family member. And it was my first time restoring a photo that was printed on tin! The reflective surface was interesting to work with when scanning, but the final result was very much appreciated.

Sometimes old proofs are the only copies people have of their loved ones. When studios don’t have access to the originals, that’s where restoration comes in handy.

Over the last month or so I have been able to restore these two treasured photographs for the Berg family. How amazing is it that photos that are almost 100 years old, still have a place in this new digital world. It was very rewarding to bring these photos back to life.
