Did you know Rocky Mountain National Park has 147 lakes?!

Now I’m curious how many I can actually make it to. Some are easy, some require serious route finding, and some are tucked WAY back there.

New challenge unlocked?

How many RMNP lakes have you been to?

The good thing about getting bored or overwhelmed in Colorado is that I can literally just pack my stuff and go somewhere that makes me feel small again. 🥹🏔️

Sunday I was reorganizing our garage and after hours of looking at boxes and stuff everywhere, I was DONE. 😂 So that night I packed a few things, drove to the mountains, found somewhere to sleep in my car for a few hours, and set my alarm for an ungodly hour Monday morning.

Woke up, grabbed my pack, and started hiking in the dark.

First stop was Emerald Lake for sunrise, and OMG… probably one of the best sunrises I’ve seen in a while. 🌄🥹 I stayed there for a bit just watching the mountains light up before continuing on to explore a few places that had been on my bucket list for years.

By the end of the day, I had hiked about 15 miles and my legs were DONE, but it was absolutely worth it. 😂 And the best part? Once I got farther away from the popular trails, I only saw THREE other people.

Whenever someone tells me RMNP is overrated because it’s too crowded, I’m like… you just don’t know where to go. 😂 There are still so many places in that park where you can find solitude. You might just have to hike a little farther and wake up a little earlier.

Even Emerald was peaceful when I got there. Early birds get dibs. 😂✌️

Anywayyyy… apparently one adventure wasn’t enough because I’m already ready for another one this weekend. 😂 This time I’m heading somewhere new up north, and I seriously cannot wait to explore that area.

What about you guys? Where are you adventuring this weekend? 👀🏔️🥾

Happy Friday Eve! 😉

The BER months are finally here, which means Colorado is about to put on one of its best shows.

Golden aspens, crisp mountain mornings, scenic drives, and trails covered in fall color, this is one of my absolute favorite times of the year.

Who else is ready to chase fall colors all over Colorado?

Just a heads-up though, fall colors might arrive a little earlier than expected this year.

I got so burnt out from cleaning and reorganizing the house that I literally said screw it and drove to Estes.

I’d spent the weekend reorganizing the garage and pulling out my winter clothes, but by Sunday night I was DONE. I needed mountains and an out-of-this-world sunrise.

So I went chasing one…..
and RMNP absolutely delivered.

Is an RMNP sunrise on your bucket list?

Your sign to wake up stupid early for sunrise at Emerald Lake. 😂🌄⛰️

September In Colorado 🍁

This was taken end of September 2024.

FYI

Colorado’s fall colors may arrive earlier than usual this year. Dry conditions and drought stress can cause aspens to change sooner so don’t wait too long to chase that Colorado gold.

Soon, Colorado will look like this again. 🍂🏔️

Not everything needs to be talked through. Sometimes I just need to get outside, breathe in the mountain air, and let nature quiet everything going on in my head. 🌲⛰️☮️
