Here's a little story about this adorable family: A few weeks ago I see on a local photographer's group that the color is "ahmaaaazing" up Provo Canyon and so I call up this family and move up their session date to get the spectacular color.

I drive up to the spot that has been recommended, which has no service, and wait for this family to show up. I wait...and wait.

The color sucks. It's crowded and everywhere you look there are photographers and families. I can't call my client and they can't call me and I'm not sure what to do, so I double check the parking lot and then wait by the entrance, hoping they show up, which they eventually did. They had gotten lost because the link to the address I sent got messed up between android and iphone. grrr.

We were running out of light, the conditions were not great, but despite all of that this little family was cheerful and adorable and we got some good pictures.

I wasn't quite satisfied with the kids' portraits, so I called up the mom and asked if she'd meet me for a quick reshoot of just the kids since she was wanting 16x20's of each one. She was the best and agreed, and I'm so glad she did.

Lesson learned: don't take someone else's word for a good location without checking it out first. Oh, and I switched back to an iPhone. :)

In case you were wondering, I am still alive and still a photographer. I have been swamped in full time school and work and trying to keep my head above water. I'm sure you can relate.

It's been so long since I've photographed a little newborn. This sweet pea was so well behaved for her session, even with a house-full of kids and chaos. She is the newest addition to a very special family who have been my longest and most loyal clients over the past decade +. Thank you, Alyssa, for being so supportive. (Also, it's always super fun to go to their home and see my work all over their walls)

Mothers with their children are my very most favorite kind of portraits to make. Every stage of motherhood has its set of challenges and rewards, and they all deserve to be documented. How's everyone hanging in there? I've been busy cleaning, organizing, doing homework, and have neglected posting again. 😬

I hope you're taking pictures of this interesting time right now, whatever it looks like for you. Last night we had a fire on my deck and the boys played chess. It was a nice (and rare) moment. Show me what's going on at your house!

I've been enjoying the holidays so much that I've been neglecting keeping up on social media. .

2019 was a wonderful year full of learning and growth. As I face another year of juggling full-time school, parenting my teenage boys, dating, and trying to keep my little business afloat, I want to thank all of you who have hired me, referred me, or simply supported me with liking or sharing my posts. It means the world to me.
