The soft neutral tones look so cozy for this newborn photoshoot. Cuddling with my hand-made knit bunny while giving a sweet subtle smile. ๐ฐ
When possible, I always try to wrap babies with their tiny little toes and hands out, because I know parents will want to remember these new little details as their baby grows so fast and time flies by. โญ๏ธ
I carefully angle my lighting to gently flow over baby. Knowing my lighting is so important for a newborn session. It needs to be just right and you'll often see me making minor adjustments to it during your session.
๐ท I don't have the fanciest camera, but I know it well. I set my aperture just right to capture those very important details, while also having a lovely soft background. As a parent myself, I would want to look back at images of by babies and be able to count their little eyelashes and see the clear details of their itty bitty feet.
๐ธ You may have noticed that I never post images of the "froggy" pose. It's not because I don't know how, I could do it. I just don't want to. It looks unnatural to me and babies aren't frogs.
๐ฅ I also don't do the "potato sack" pose. I don't like how it looks. I'm not convinced that parents will look back at their newborn session years later, when their child is half-grown and think the potato sack pose is cute. Of course their baby is cute, but in that pose they are wrapped into a round lump and then posed to sit upright, with only their little head and fingers exposed. It seems to be more of a novelty.
๐ฟ I prefer to photograph babies in a more natural way. Gently wrapped so that they are comfortable. Placed in a cozy basket with soft fabrics. Showing off their beautiful little fingers, toes, and eyelashes.
๐๏ธ My studio is a small building located on my family's dairy farm. It's not a pretty studio, but it serves it's purpose well. I have it fully stocked with more props and accessories than you could imagine! Dandelion Soul Studio is located in rural Central Wisconsin and is an easy drive from many nearby towns and cities.
