In the early days of my career as a wedding photographer I actually spent countless weekends assisting as a second shooter alongside some incredible photographers in the luxury wedding industry. It was such a formative time for me—learning the ins and outs of weddings big and small, without the full weight of being the lead photographer.

Second shooting gave me the chance to grow my skills and confidence while building my portfolio. I got to experience the beauty and complexity of weddings that celebrated love in such grand and thoughtful ways. It was a front-row seat to moments filled with joy, elegance, and heartfelt connection, and I learned so much from being part of them.

Some of my favorite memories were finding those creative shots while the lead handled the essentials. It was freeing and inspiring, and it taught me how to capture the details and emotions that make every wedding unique.

Even though I haven’t second shot in a long time, I still look back on those days with so much gratitude. They gave me a foundation that shaped the photographer I’ve become and the way I approach every wedding I capture today.

It’s been a while since I’ve stepped in front of the camera myself. But I’ve been feeling led to reintroduce the heart behind this business, especially for the new brides joining me here.

I was asked recently, ‘𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴?’

My answer was simple: 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱.
