I-821D- Form Renewal- evidence of removal order?

Hey everyone, I’m working through my renewal & noticed there’s a new section in form I-821D where it asks you for evidence of a removal order. I have a removal order from a judge from back in 2005 but I have never had to upload it in any previous renewals.

Does anyone know if you actually need to get the copy of the order from the judge and upload it. I saw on a separate group on FB that someone got a check in letter from USCIS because they had a removal from 20 years ago but didn’t submit anything in this section.

Anybody got this before?

Got a text earlier today and received this email…. I am a little confused because this is the first time I get something like this. I filed an expedite 6/9 and it was just sent to Nebraska Service center on 7/14 — but then 8/3 they told me it was closed without a reason. So call center rep told me he had submitted a high priority request to tier 2 to investigate further —- but I got this today ….i am really hoping I get approved soon. I filed 2/17 and ead expired 6/11 so I have been out of work ever since 😣😢

Has anybody gotten this? And if so, how soon after you got your approval

Sharing my wife’s I-485 and I-130 marriage based green card processing and timeline.

Syracuse, NY office field. Interview went pretty good, we had 2 binders with all of the evidence and photo album and officer did not asked any questions about our marriage and how we live together. It was 10 minutes interview, he only asked my wife yes/no questions and verified her date of birth and country of birth. And approved on spot and yesterday USCIS is sent her physical green card. We are really happy everything went smoothly, it was our first time filling and dealing with immigration services, and we did not hire a lawyer, we did everything ourselves. Thank you and everybody that is going through this, I wish all of you luck and patience, faith.

Marriage-Based AOS Approved in 4 Months! 🇺🇸 | April 2026 Filing → August 2026 Approval | San Jose FO

Wanted to share my timeline since reading other people’s timelines was really helpful while I was going through this process.

Background:
Marriage-based Adjustment of Status
Spouse is a U.S. citizen
I was already living in the U.S. in valid TN status when we filed
Canadian citizen
San Jose Field Office
Paper-filed everything concurrently

April 1, 2026 — USCIS received concurrent filing

Package included:
I-130
I-130A
I-485
I-864
I-765
I-131
I-693

Also submitted bona fide marriage evidence with the initial package, including things like our joint lease, joint bank statements, joint tax return, beneficiary documentation, photos, etc.

~2 weeks after filing — Receipt notices
Started receiving the I-797 receipt notices in the mail for the different applications.

~1.5 months after filing — Biometrics
Received the biometrics appointment notice and completed biometrics.

July 7, 2026 — Interview scheduled
I-485 case status changed to “Interview Was Scheduled.”

Shortly afterward I received the physical I-797C:
“Request for Applicant to Appear for Initial Interview.”

Interview was scheduled for:
August 11, 2026 — San Jose Field Office

Before the interview, the San Jose Field Office also emailed us asking us to create/link our USCIS online accounts and upload new evidence that had not already been submitted.

We uploaded additional/new bona fide marriage evidence covering the period after filing and brought all of our originals and updated evidence physically to the interview as well.

August 11, 2026 — Interview
Interview was at 12:30 PM.
We ended up waiting around 1.5 hours past our scheduled time before being called.
The actual interview was pretty detailed/long, but the atmosphere was surprisingly relaxed. The officer joked with us here and there and did not separate us.

We had brought a lot of updated relationship evidence, but the officer barely needed to look through most of it.
He did review some of our financial documentation, including our jointly filed tax return.

At the end, I explicitly asked whether everything looked okay.

He said basically “Yeah, all good” and told us to expect something in the mail the following week.

We weren’t given an approval on the spot, so we left cautiously optimistic.
August 12, 2026 — I-130 APPROVED 🎉
The very next day, the I-130 changed to:
“Case Approved.”

The online approval notice showed:
Notice Type: Approval Notice
Section: Husband or wife of U.S. Citizen, 201(b) INA

The I-130 then showed as Case Closed.

At first my I-485 was still showing that the case was being processed and that USCIS did not need anything from me.
Then later the same day…
August 12, 2026 — I-485 APPROVED 🎉🎉
The I-485 changed to:
“Case Approved.”

So overall:
USCIS received case: April 1, 2026
Interview: August 11, 2026
I-130 approved: August 12, 2026
I-485 approved: August 12, 2026

Total time from USCIS receiving the package to I-485 approval was roughly 4 months and 11 days.

Happy to answer questions about the filing package, evidence we submitted, biometrics, EAD, San Jose interview, or the interview itself if it helps anyone going through the same process.

I-485 approved, green card returned to sender, and lawyer says she paid a $1,200 “reopening” fee — has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can give me some insight because there are a few things about our I-485 case that we’re confused about.

Our I-485 case was recently approved, and we were notified through the USCIS account that the green cards would be mailed. The cards were mailed to our lawyer’s home/address.

The Social Security card was shipped and received without any issues. However, the green card tracking showed that it was out for delivery and then returned to sender because it was undeliverable. We think this may have happened because nobody was available at the address to receive it, but we’re not completely sure.

Our case had been stagnant for about a year because there was a name error that needed to be corrected. We contacted a lawyer to help fix the error and move the case forward. She was eventually able to correct the issue and get the case moving again, and shortly afterward the I-485 was approved.

Our lawyer is now telling us that she paid approximately $1,200 to “reopen the case” because it had been sitting for a year. She explained that she has some type of arrangement/connections with immigration and that she essentially took responsibility for the case being paused, saying it was her mistake, and used her own card to pay whatever fee was necessary to get it released without USCIS questioning it.

However, there is no USCIS notice or receipt in our online account showing a $1,200 fee, and we don’t remember being told that there would be an additional fee like this. We already paid all of the required application fees when we originally filed.
We asked the lawyer if she could provide a receipt or notice showing the payment. She said she doesn’t have a USCIS receipt/notice but can show us a bank account statement showing that she paid the amount.

Has anyone experienced anything like this with an I-485? Is there actually an additional USCIS fee to “reopen” an I-485 that has been sitting for a year?
