The Fowlers are the type of people that if you know them, you canā€™t help but love ā€˜em. All three of them. Each of them has their own kind of sparkle they bring into every room they enter, and they always seem to leave things + people better than they found them.

Ruth is a teller of stories in her own right (you can see for yourself Sense Makery | A Design & Thinking Studio šŸ‘€) so it felt like an especially high honor to get the chance to step into their sweet fam and preserve this last season before the Great Launch into adulthood begins for their boy.

This in-home family session was a bit different than the ones I usually do - no chasing anyone in diapers, no meltdowns, and I didnā€™t even have to make one fart joke (šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø) - but the slower pace and peaceful conversations were just as magical. šŸ’«

Oh and Getch - just remember us small town folks when youā€™re big time famous one day! āš½ļøšŸ™ŒšŸ’•

Atlanta in July gets a bad rap. The humidity is real. My hair knows. šŸ˜…

But hereā€™s the thing ā€” summer is genuinely one of my favorite seasons to photograph families, and I want to make the case for it.

Golden hour falls at 8:30 PM, and the ideal window is 60-90 minutes before. The light is warm and honey-colored and it photographs beautifully on everyone. And unlike fall ā€” you wonā€™t be competing with every other Atlanta family for the same three weekends.

Summer is wide open. And it is gorgeous. You just have to know how to work it. ā˜€ļø

A newborn session at a brewery. Obviously. šŸŗšŸ¤

I love when families bring me into their world ā€” their real world, the places that actually mean something ā€” and the Veals did not disappoint. Bold Monk was the perfect backdrop for this wild, colorful crew.

Hereā€™s the part that gets me though: I photographed their wedding. And now here we are, documenting a whole new chapter with a brand new tiny human in the mix. Thatā€™s the kind of storytelling I live for ā€” walking alongside a family through all of it. The vows, the chaos, the 3am snuggles, the years in between.

This senior portrait session at Ponce City Market just about did me in ā€” because Iā€™m pretty sure Celeste was sitting in my 4th grade Sunday school class yesterday, and here she is, fully grown and absolutely radiant. OOF.

She has the most sunshine-y smile and a laugh thatā€™s genuinely contagious, and I just know this girl is going to go out into the big wide world and do something that makes all of us stop and say ā€œā€¦of course she did.ā€

Celeste, we cheered for you from the sidelines all those years ago ā€” and nothing has changed. We are still in your corner, always.

Worried about booking an in-home session, afraid that your house isnā€™t prepped and ready or ā€œPinterest worthyā€?

Part of what I love MOST about these family photo sessions is showing you just how āœØmagicalāœØ your everyday life really and truly is! Plus, photography lends all sorts of tricks I can pull out of my bag if needed, like:

šŸŖ„Hiding things in the shadows
šŸŖ„Cropping the frame to cut out the mess
šŸŖ„Quick tidy of surfaces in whatever area weā€™re currently shooting (as long as itā€™s out of frame, weā€™re golden!)
šŸŖ„Letting the kids help clean, and capturing cute little photos of them in action
šŸŖ„Editing minor distractions out in post-processing
šŸŖ„Spending time playing outside in the yard

Also, keep in mind that Iā€™m coming in with āœØfresh eyesāœØ and chasing the light - so Iā€™ll guide you through your session, and probably tuck you into nooks of your house you might not have noticed beforeā€¦ but I diiid!
