When my client's mother passed away last year, the family found thirty years of photos on a phone no one had the password to.

If you got home from a beach trip this summer and thought, "I really need to do something with all these photos" — and then didn't — you are in very good company.

The summer photo pile is real. By the end of August, most of us are sitting on thousands of images from graduations, vacations, family reunions, and everyday moments that deserved to be saved. And the longer they sit, the more overwhelming the whole thing feels.

Here's the system I walk my clients through at the end of every summer:

1. Delete the obvious junk first. Blurry shots, duplicates, accidental photos of the floor. Set a timer for 20 minutes and don't overthink it.

2. Pick 10 favorites from each event or trip. Just 10. The beach trip, the family reunion, the birthday party. Your best memories deserve to stand out.

3. Move them to one dedicated folder. "Summer 2026." Simple, labeled, done.

4. Decide on one physical product. A print set, a photo book, a USB drive. Something you can hold. Something that won't disappear when your phone does.
