COLLEGE PARK, Ga. – Between candid shots, memorable clips and photographic storytelling, the narrative of the Roderick Gay Botanical Garden has come to life.
The 40-acre garden, located at 4320 Herschel Road, is a product of a historic collaboration between Fulton County and the city of College Park.
The garden was a dream 20 years in the making. It was realized in a joint effort not just between the dreamer, Councilman Roderick Gay, or the partnership between city and county, but with the aid of Ikon Filmorks who captured the moment.
“[Ikon Filmworks] played a key role in what I believe to be a great launch of this botanical garden,” said Gerald Walker, Director of Communications for the City of College Park.
“It was incredible, because they were professional, they were seamless, they were well coordinated…their presentation was very visual and it seriously helped everybody get into dreamland if they were watching this from home,” said Walker.
Ikon Filmworks’ coverage included a livestream of the ground breaking, ribbon cutting and the presentations of several prominent speakers.
The Roderick Gay Botanical Garden is set to be a space for people to relax, converse, study or just enjoy nature.
It also serves as a solution to the long desired “third space” by younger generations, acting as a space outside of work and home to build community with one another.
“College Park is on the move. We’re taking a step upward,” said Walker.
