BLK GIRLS SHOOT — DAY 3 🎀📸

Day 3 was about more than photography — it was about the business behind the camera. We got to hear from some amazing women dropping gems on marketing, email strategy, business systems, AI, finances, and what it really takes to build something sustainable.

🎤 Panel Speakers:
Graphic Designer - Marketing Strategist
KALI 🤍 | Email Marketing Strategist
Business Systems & AI Strategist
Renesha L. Davis, MAcc, CPA

So many notes taken. So many reminders that being talented is only ONE part of being a successful creative. 💭

And ending the day with the affirmation Jaylin led us through? Whew. 🥹 Sometimes you need to say it out loud until you believe it.

BLK GIRLS SHOOT DAY 2. 🖤📸

Four stations. Four different creative experiences. A whole lot of inspiration.

From maternity to creative branding, brand photography, and wedding photography, each station gave us the opportunity to learn, create, and see things from a different perspective.

I’m grateful for spaces like this that allow Black women photographers to connect, share knowledge, and pour into one another. Every station reminded me that there’s always something new to learn and another way to tell a story through the lens.

The stations:
🤰🏽 Maternity — Sophia Nive Joseph-Barrett
🎨 Creative Branding — Inari NOT Briana 稲荷
📸 Brand Photography — Atlanta Photographer
💍 Wedding Photography — Michelle Harris

Day 2 was one for the books. So much talent, creativity, and community in one room. ✨

1% better, every single day. ✨

The 121-day posting challenge through PNG University is about more than just showing up on social media. It’s about what I’m doing behind the scenes to become a better photographer, creator, business owner, and person.

Some days that 1% looks like learning something new. Other days it’s improving my workflow, completing a task I’ve been putting off, or simply choosing to show up when I don’t feel like it.

The little things may not seem like much today, but 121 days of intentional effort can add up to something major.

I don’t just want to look back and say I posted every day. I want to say I grew every day. ❤️

What’s your 1% today?

My favorite photo this week, and every decision behind it. 📸

From choosing the location to creating a preset that brought the final vision together, here’s a little look into how my brain works behind the camera. Every good photo has a story, and this one is no different.

I created a preset from this edit, and I’m sharing it with y’all for FREE. 🖤

Comment “MIDNIGHT” and I’ll send you the link to download it.

Save this for a little editing inspiration, and let me know what you think of the final image.

3 different photos. 3 different transformations. Same goal every time: enhance what’s already there and bring the full vision to life.

The part people don’t see 👀📸

The RAW is only the starting point. Lighting corrections, cleanup, retouching, color work — the edit is where the full vision comes together.

Before ➡️ After ✨
Which one are you picking? 👀

Please note: RAW/unedited images are not included with sessions. Final galleries include professionally edited images only.

A whole collab and somehow I left with everything BUT the BTS 😭😂
Every time I swear “I’m getting content today” … then photographer mode kicks in and I forget I’m supposed to be a content creator too. I can’t even count how many times I’ve done this. I could make a separate video for each if I wanted to LOL.

The Exposure Triangle sounds complicated until you realize it’s really just 3 settings working together. 📸🔺

Aperture. Shutter Speed. ISO.

Change one? You have to understand what it’s doing to the rest of your image.

The goal isn’t to memorize somebody else’s “perfect settings.” It’s to understand WHY you’re changing yours. Once that clicks, shooting manual gets a whole lot easier. 💡

Save this for your next studio session & send it to a photographer who’s still learning manual mode. 🤍

For this studio shot, I used:
📸 f/8 | 1/100 | ISO 100

Aperture isn’t just about that blurry background 👀 — especially in the studio.

Your f-stop controls how much light enters through your lens AND how much of your image is in focus.

Remember: Lower f/ # = wider opening. Higher f/ # = smaller opening.

Fast = freeze. Slow = motion.

But here’s where studio photography gets a little different 👀 — when you’re using flash, your flash is doing a lot of the work to freeze your subject, while shutter speed plays a bigger role in how much ambient light shows up.

In the studio, I like to keep my ISO as close to 100 as possible.

Why? Because I control the lighting. Instead of immediately raising my ISO when an image is too dark, I can adjust my lighting or aperture first.

Remember: LOW ISO = LOW NOISE. ✨

Aperture. Shutter Speed. ISO. They don’t work alone.

When you adjust one, it can change your exposure — which means you may need to adjust something else to bring everything back into balance. The goal isn’t to memorize these settings and use them every time. Learn what each setting controls, and you’ll know what to change when your image isn’t looking how you want it to. 💡

Send this to a growing photographer 🫶🏽

From distracting wrinkles and little details to color, skin tones, lighting + the overall finish — editing is a HUGE part of my process.

RAW/unedited images don’t represent my finished work, and this is exactly why. ✨
