Today employees of Jimmy Carter National Historical Park and park rangers from around the region lined the streets of Plains as Mrs. Carter's funeral procession made its way from the Maranatha Baptist Church to the Carter Home for burial.

The National Park Service joins the Carter Family and the community of Plains in honoring the life and legacy of Mrs. Rosalynn Carter.

Saturday, October 22nd the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park is hosting La Fiesta en el Parque, (Party in the Park).

Events start at 10 am on the field in front of Plains High School.
Authentic food, festive music, arts and crafts, and a children's carnival are part of the La Fiesta en el Parque.

Non-stop entertainment and excitement will start with a Cake Walk activity for the children at 10:00 in the parking lot at Jimmy Carter National Historical Park’s main visitor center Plains High School. Artist “Gladius” will be performing traditional Latin Music from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM.

The children's area will include a jumping castle, co****le, and a newly added playground located at Plains High School. Other activities for the children include face painting, games, and arts and crafts. Booths with information about health, education, and social services will be located in the festival area at Plains High School.

A number of food trucks will be sat up in front of the field at Plains High School. This field will host two soccer tournaments throughout the day. The festival is free and open to the public.
