There were a few key moments during my time shooting the that changed my style. The first situation made me get a portable backdrop. While shooting the episode, I realized I needed to have more control of my lighting. This was one of the last color portraits for the show because the next situation would change the style completely.

Full video on YouTube - The last thing you want to do as a photographer is get comfortable. There were a few times I was forced to adjust my plan or portrait setup and honestly it made me a better photographer. Changing studios threw a wrench in my plans just as I was getting a system together for quick portraits. Rick Ross was one of the last guests I shot in color for the The Combat Jack Show.

New York Summers bring out the street ballers. But who said that’s just for hoopers? Shooting the Toma Championship put me back in a familiar space documenting athletes competing on some of the most famous courts in the city if not the world. It’s a global street soccer movement.

It’s a funny thing to call this “work”. For me, it really is fun to document and capture these kinds of moments. I was once an athlete but creativity was the pathway to my respective highest level - so when said he was guiding a meditation for players at the TOMA championships, I knew we had to create something dope.

Selfishly I hoped the Knicks went one more game in the series so we could be there for the parade. Got there less than 24 hours later and the only banner left hanging was on Duane Reade on Champions Way. Jokingly, I told there was only going to be orange and blue ticker tape on the ground. Guess I was right. You would think after a 53 year wait those banners would be permanent. Now we have to hit the Garden for the real one. 🟧🟦
