So when I did that last ad, I actually did two. I'll probably get some stickers made of this one too. It kinda captures all the different formats of media I have been digitizing lately...plus hopefully it will drive some people back to my site. Let me know what you think.

So the duel boot marketplace G4 is getting near finished. I spent forever getting classic version of OS 9.2.2 on one partition and OSX Tiger on another. Both partitions are part of a OWC 120GB Mercury Extreme SSD....running in a 25 year old machine. It is definitely more peppy then before. I will probably load this thing up with some classic games and software, clean it really good and sell....its a really clean machine. I am looking for another one...maybe a Quadra?

So the marketplace G4 is rocking with its 120GB SSD. A few more things on the list….still need to get the OS 9 volume airtight…and I will probably max out the ram. I also thought if I could get a good price on a FireWire 400 PCI card that would be pretty desirable:)

So the OWC 3.5" IDE/ATA SSD Internal Drive Kit just arrived at the front door. The MarketPlace G4 tower I found is getting the last facelift before I flip it. So I bought it pretty cheap...and started fixing a few things right away....found a good replacement graphics card that fixed problem number 1. The second item on the list was the single bootdrive which I have no idea how much milage was on it....so upgrade number 2 is happening now! I got a 120GB SSD.....and made three partitions! One for OS 9.2.2. and since that was at a crossover period in Mac history the second partition is for OSX Tiger.... #3 extra storage. It will be a nice little duel boot drive...

So...I started trying to clean up my website again. Awhile back I decided I was not going to pay a subscription fee every damn month for a website...that will pretty much be static! I know there are a ton of different options for sites, I had bought Rapidwaver for the Mac and was extremely unimpressed. I had used it for my site a long time ago...before mobile browsers and such. But now there is no really good source of info on how too even use it. I by chance came across Solo...which is a Mozilla product. They are the company behind the browser FireFox. It was in beta when I found it....so I am always waiting for the shoe (paid subscription) to drop. It is so rigid and un-flexable...but its free and with a little time and energy I think it is just the static calling card I needed! A little feedback would be so great!

So with all the vintage hard drives I have been accessing in the past several weeks...it made me think, that there must be a ton of people with old external drives or broken computers that no longer boot up for whatever mechanical reason. I have collected various tools over the past month which combined with a bunch of restored vintage workstations means I could help get your irreplaceable files back.....message me. I am about to run this new ad....give me some feedback before I do!

So the BlueSCSI running OS 8.6 should work as is with my 8500/120 Power Macintosh. But as I got into the process it started spiraling out of control. First SCSI termination issues galore…. which resulted in a complete tear down of the computer. Now I know why so many people won’t ship the old vintage Mac’s….the fasteners and plastic parts would just break into pieces…this was just from tear down on my workbench.. 😞

Is it December already? Look what Santa just left in my mailbox…..let “Operation save the SCSI hard drive data” begin. So a few weeks ago digging around in bins in my office I found a bunch of drives, the saved data count is pretty lame…..but I did have a old Apple external drive that I got to mount on my 9600 MP Power Macintosh. So now I can (fingers crossed) copy all the data on the external to a MicroSD card.

So, I picked up a old G4 yesterday. The price was very, very right, but it was a total crap shoot on whether or not it would boot up. If it did not.. it would instantly be a parts deal. So the big moment arrives and it’s plugged up on the work table……right away, sweet, clear, clean chimes. But no picture…a quick video card swap with my other G4 and this thing is rocking. I guess the family that owned it did not figure out the video card was bad, and stuck it in their storage unit….and defaulted on the storage unit payment. Along came my buyer and bought the units contents along with my new G4. Few things on the 2 do list….find a good graphics card…and replace the boot drive with a modern SSD. I don’t even need to do a lot of cleaning, it’s spotless.
