These carpenter bees seem to defy logic but yet they fly with tiny wings and huge bodies. They flap their wings 230 times per second in a rapid, shallow figure-eight pattern. This motion creates a tiny, low-pressure hurricane on top of the wing that sucks the bee upward, generating twice the lift of a standard glide.
They try to be intimidating and sometimes dive bomb you but other times they are sweet as honey.
