I got to work with the wonderful on getting her some updated headshots and portraits for her job (she works for the Human Rights Campaign — what a badass!) We immediately bonded over drinks at as we waited for the sun to go down a little bit and get the best shots possible.
When Brandi and I started planning this shoot, she asked if there was a subtle way to include the fact that she’s gay in her photos. I recommended wearing a small pride flag pin and that we could shoot in the art district and have colorful, rainbow murals as a subtle nod. She loved this idea and I’m so glad she did because we got some seriously amazing shots with absolutely beautiful photos!
If you check out her page, her photos will have a slightly different edit; throughout the editing process, Brandi came to the conclusion that she wanted very minimal editing done, both in terms of a clean color edit and no retouching. It’s my job to make sure clients get the photos they want and love, and I always appreciate it when they communicate those things to me. I never want a client to feel like skin retouching or my editing is taking away from who they are, so I made sure to do two edits of every photo; one for her that is a very clean edit, which you’ll see posted to her page, and one on my page that reflects my style. I think both versions are beautiful in their own unique ways! I will always honor a client’s authenticity by editing in a way that they see their true selves reflected in the photos and feel genuine joy from them! 💖
Brandi is an awesome woman and I see so much of myself in her! Seriously, she’s a rockstar, and I felt so inspired when I met her. I hope to work with her again in the future! ☺️
