I love to travel and I LOVE to bring home photos from my trips! I often hear of so many people in popular tourist destinations being "in the way." (As in, can you photoshop all these other people out of my picture?!) I say...take advantage of the people being there. Use them to enhance your photos. I like to do this with framing and it's especially effective with a shallow depth of field. It's a fun challenge and makes the crowded places less frustrating!

Add this to the list of "shoots that made Kelcie cry"!

It's been on my dream list for photo shoots to shoot an adoption announcement. Well, I got to do one last fall, but couldn't post about it yet until the adoption was finalized because the soon-to-be adoptees were in foster care.

THIS WAS SUCH A JOY! They had been fostering these teenage twins for around a year and were in the final stages of adopting them and I got to capture these for their announcement to all their loved ones! So these are the photos I took in that shoot several months ago!

Fast forward to just a few days ago...the girls' mom texted me and asked if I may be available to do another shoot for them because they're adopting AGAIN! I said YES YES YES! While I was with them, she shared their family holiday card with me with the photos I took.

I'll leave the private details with the family, but it talked in the card about how long the twins had been in foster care and the date they were placed with and then officially adopted by their family and I literally can't even think about it without crying. They went SO long without a permanent place to call home and stable supports as a forever family. Seeing them with their family now is SO awesome because there is just no doubt how closely bonded they are and how much they love each other.

So I'll share the rest of the photos of their new family member once that adoption is finalized, but this was such a thrill that I got to reconnect with this beautiful family over the weekend and celebrate with them yet again!!

I love shooting events because I get to capture joy around every corner! Happy graduation to three wonderful young ladie...

I had a great time shooting photos at the graduation ceremonies for 5th grade and 8th grade over two nights last week at Global Village Academy in Aurora. I love getting that much more immersed in my own community and it was neat getting to see all these kids with so much promise celebrate stepping into their next life chapter!

This was definitely the most important thing I could have done today.

I was honored to be part of the community gathering in solidarity of our Muslim neighbors in Aurora and Denver. The outpouring of love and support was incredible: I had to park several blocks away before I could find a single spot and there was so much love in this space. We sat together, talked together, prayed together, hugged together, listened together...and the most important thing is that we did it all *together*.

Thank you to Tay Anderson and Rep. Jason Crow for posting about this so I'd know to go. I'm so grateful for the loving communities I call home of Aurora, Colorado and Denver, Colorado.
