Looking for a photographer/videographer for a SXSW unofficial gig in Austin, TX. Client needs photos and video of his music performance with a working band (both full band and solo). Media output will be for social media, so he's looking for short video, clips, and photos. Has a reasonable budget to work with. Excited to discover that I had the opportunity to photograph one of my favorite actors in the world, the incredible Michael Shannon, in 2017. Not sure if I was a fangirl then, but definitely became one over the years. Getting the giggles just scrolling through my images from the shoot because I'm pretty sure I was probably blushing as I was taking his photo on the step-and-repeat.

Legendary songwriter, singer, and raconteur Joe Ely died today from complications of Lewy Body Dementia, Parkinson’s and pneumonia. His beloved wife Sharon and daughter Marie were at his side at their home in Taos, New Mexico. Ely was born February 9, 1947 in Amarillo, Texas. He was a leader of the extraordinary parade of artists raised in Lubbock who later settled in the live music capital of Austin. Ely signed with MCA Records in the 1970s and spent more than five decades recording and performing around the world. A full obituary and more information will follow in the coming days.

Athens, GA — The National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) condemns in the strongest possible terms the violent actions taken by ICE officers against journalists inside Federal Plaza in New York City yesterday. The assault on an amNewYork reporter and the serious injury inflicted on another journalist represent an unacceptable, blatant attack on press freedom.

These actions violate the spirit behind ICE’s own 2022 directive, Policy 10093.1, which prohibits “improperly or unnecessarily imping[ing] on the news gathering activities of members of the news media” engaged in lawful newsgathering, and its explicit policy against unreasonable use of force. When federal officers ignore their own policies, they undermine the rule of law and erode the constitutional protections afforded to a free press under the First Amendment.
