What is surrender?

In Hinduism, it's Prapatti. In Taoism, Wu wei. In Buddhism, it's Equanimity. In Christianity, it's Thy Will Be Done. And in Kashmir Shaivism, it's Pratibhā.

Surrender is God's Will, felt from the inside. A self-arising awareness, where your individual wants dissolve into the larger pattern.

So what does this actually look like?

It's when you want what life wants. When your actions, decisions, and desires begin to align with a pattern greater than yourself.

We like to get ambitious. We make plans. We decide what we want our lives to look like. We convince ourselves we know where we're going and what needs to happen next.

But what you want for yourself isn't necessarily what life wants for you.

Surrender means loosening your grip on your own will and becoming willing to go with what unfolds.

How do you do that?

When the ego is heavy, it tricks us into thinking our wants are the path we're supposed to be on. We convince ourselves our decisions serve the greater good simply because we want them, not because they actually do.

Our wants are loud.

That doesn't mean they're pointing us in the right direction. The right path may not be what we want at all.

So how do you know which path is right?

It's a dance.

Act, then wait for the pattern to answer. The next step depends on that answer. Decisions unfold through flow, not force.

But here's the trap: notice the difference between uncomfortable and obstructed.

The path of God's Will may feel deeply uncomfortable because it isn't about you. Your ego may say, I can't do that. I don't have time for that. That's not in my plan.

But that's the point. The plan isn't yours. Surrender is the willingness to stop insisting that you know what happens next.

God's Will laughs.
As if you knew the plan.
