A struggling artist with a passion for Photography… thats the way to like to describe myself. Making my art come to life through photography has truly been a journey. Its so cliche that all photographers would say a picture is worth a 1,000 words so I would like to change that by saying my pictures have a story. I just want to take this photography industry by storm, so where do i start. I always had a love for art since I was younger but wasn’t sure of were to take it. Growing up I thought that it will just be considered to be a hobby and never thought of it as being an actual career field. I always was excellent in drawing and was absorbed deep when it came to analyzing all kinds of art. To make a long story short, in the summer of 2009 something made me want to purchase a camera. I can honestly confess that I didnt know where this thought of wanting a camera came from. All I knew is that I had to get one. Being a determined Ta**us, I took aim to do just that. My first camera ended up being a Cannon EOS Rebel K2. It was a 35mm but I didn’t care. All I knew is that I now had a camera and I wanted to take some pictures. I starting taking pictures of objects, people, landscapes, animals anything that caught my eye at that moment. Then that turned into me do series of work by just creating stories through pictures. During this time I still wasn't very confident in my work but for some reason people started to pay attention to what I was posting on social networks. Having people become interested in my work, i found myself having conversations about what I was doing more and more. Before I knew it, I was labeled as a photographer. Their reactions to my work took me by surprise at times because I thought it was just typical hobby images. So I tried to go the extra mile to know exactly what i was doing by taking professional classes and learning things I have yet to learn. Believe it or not while being a Art major at BCCC college I didn’t have not one photography class. That didn't stop me at all. In 2010 I decided to create my own brand and name it “McCaly T Photography” now known as "Pics By Caly" Being content and persistent with branding myself I felt like this was where I belonged. In society Im still considered to be a “Ametuer" Photographer but I would like to think Im a professional in what I like to do. While adding work to my portfolio every chance I get, my skills continue to blossom as well as my supporters who makes me feel on top everyday. Yes, I lost a hobby and gained a passion!
