One of the things I love most about my day job as a school counselor is the people I get to work with.

My boss has a family home in Bar Harbor, and by pure coincidence, we were both vacationing there the same week her whole family was together. The timing couldn’t have worked out better, so I was able to photograph their extended family.

It’s always special when life and photography overlap like this. A beautiful location, a family making memories together, and getting to preserve a small piece of it…it doesn’t get much better than that 💕

This month marks 4 years of Caitlin Matte Photography! I spend most of my time behind the camera, so I figured this was a good excuse to share an updated photo of the person behind the business.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been 4 years since I turned something I loved into a business. Since then, I’ve met so many incredible families, photographed countless milestones, and had the privilege of watching many of your families grow. It’s something I’ll never take for granted.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has trusted me to capture their memories, recommended me to a friend, or simply followed along. Every bit of support has helped me get here. 🩷

Yesterday was a big day for Caitlin Matte Photography! I was accepted as a Master Photographer in the Family category through the National Association of Portrait and Child Photographers (). As part of the application process, I submitted a portfolio of 25 images that demonstrated my ability to consistently create meaningful family photographs across a variety of locations, lighting situations, and stages of life. The goal is to show mastery within your specialty and a cohesive body of work that reflects your artistic vision. I’m incredibly honored to receive this recognition and grateful to every family who has trusted me to document their lives! These are the 25 images that were selected for my Master Photographer portfolio. ❤️
