This eagle is having a sneezing fit and it’s not how I ever imagined a sneezing eagle would sound. To be fair, I never imagined an eagle sneezing, but here we are. Also, an eagle sneeze is called a snite in case anyone wanted to know. Watch with the sound on.

Today is National Hummingbird Day. It’s a day to honor these little guys and raise awareness to the benefits they provide and the threats they face. Most of the hummingbirds have began their migration and moved out of my area, but there are still some around. The migration is a major undertaking for them and you can help by cleaning and filling your feeders so those that remain have access to the nectar they need to complete their epic journey. I keep mine filled for at least two weeks after I see the last hummingbird. This ensures any late travelers have a place to fuel up.

Belted Kingfishers are extremely territorial and will rigorously defend their stretch of stream or shoreline. These two juveniles are likely siblings and for more than an hour fought over two perches. They would constantly trade perches by taking turns chasing the other off. This seemed like practice and play versus actual aggression, getting ready for when they have their own territory. - Crex Meadows, WI
