Scott, owner of Alpine Auto Sales, just so happened to be the last person I photographed for my Bayfield Colorado 2025 project. He and I had a wonderful talk about both my project and his business. If you're looking for a used vehicle, be sure to stop by Alpine Auto Sales, located off CR 501 near Byafield HS. He may have just the vehicle you're looking for. Thank you, Scott, for being a part of my project.

I had the pleasure of stopping by the business 'Outpost,' formerly San Juan Vans. They're located in Bayfield, just off CR 501, not far from Bayfield HS. I love what they're doing, and I enjoyed meeting both the owners and a few of the guys who work there. If you’re shopping for a truck camper, make sure you talk to the owners at Outpost before you make your final decision. You will not be disappointed.

"We’re not your average RV manufacturer. Here at Outpost Campers, we believe in the power of a small, passionate team. It’s what allows us to focus on what truly matters: exceptional quality, meticulous attention to detail, and creating the most capable truck campers at a value you’ll love." (Outpost)

Katie, Emma, and Steph are 3 of the 4 now working full-time to keep the Blue Sky Cafe running smoothly. Stop by, say hello, and grab a bite to eat. You won't be disappointed. Sadly, sweet Tanya was not working today and does not appear in the photo.

If you have driven through Gem Village, then you know that Southwest Ag (SWAG), a large Kubota dealership, is located on both sides of Hwy. 160. The Hillyer Family, Dennis and Becky, started this business over 40 years ago, and it has grown into one of the most successful Kubota dealerships in the United States. The Hillyer family and Southwest Ag are an integral part of the Bayfield community.

Pictured below is Kendal Hillyer and her grandparents, Dennis and Becky Hillyer. Thank you, Kendal, for helping make this photo shoot possible. Kendal works in the HR department at Southwest Ag and is a recent graduate of Fort Lewis College.

I'm saddened to hear about the passing of Jim and Terry. I was so fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet them and photograph them at the Bayfield Farmers Market last August. Terry made me smile when I asked her if I could photograph both her and Jim. I remember her saying, "Why would anyone want to take our photos?" I replied because you are two beautiful people who mean a lot to the Bayfield community. (RIP)

God bless their family and friends during this most difficult time.

I crossed paths with Kendal and her sweet dog Juno this past weekend, and she introduced me to her grandparents, Dennis and Becky Hillyer. Denis and Becky Hillyer are the founders of Southwest Ag Inc. (Kubota Tractors), located in Gem Village. I enjoyed my visit with the family and was very fortunate to photograph them for my project, Bayfield Colorado 2025. Thank you so much, Kendal. I enjoyed meeting your wonderful grandparents as well as you and Juno.

Bottom Shelf Brewery was so nice, back in February of 2025, when I first started the Bayfield Colorado 2025 project. I was able to photograph so many of their staff. The owners, Greg and Chris, were also on board with my project. Some of the staff have left, but it would be nice to see them all together in one final post. I apologize for not being able to include other staff members. By the way, Bottom Shelf Brewery is a wonderful place. Could you check them out if you have not stopped by before? I'm not sure about their winter hours.

Ms. Kathy Neal, art teacher at Bayfield High School, and an Honors Art Student, Wrenalee, are painting the window of the Blue Sky Cafe. Their work is fantastic. If you have a business and need your business windows decorated, please contact Ms. Neal. They just might be able to help you. This is not a free service, but what an excellent way to help the Bayfield High School Art Department.
