As Hudson Valley wedding photographers we document elopements and intimate ceremonies across the region, and Phoebe and Al chose a Lake Minnewaska elopement for their summer celebration that began early on a clear morning at Minnewaska State Park!! We met them right as the gates opened, giving us that soft early light and way fewer crowds :) Our first stop was Awosting Falls, where Phoebe and Al got brave enough to step right up to the water's edge for some seriously gorgeous backlit shots with the mist catching the morning sun.
We then walked together toward Lake Minnewaska itself where eight close family members waited to witness the ceremony, and Dani from Once Upon a Vow officiated with so much warmth and humor, even weaving in Star Trek references that had everyone smiling! Instead of reading vows aloud, Phoebe and Al wrote private letters to each other and sealed them in a time capsule with a bottle of their favorite whiskey to open on their first anniversary. With the lake stretched out behind them they made it official, and after quick family photos the couple headed to Inness for a relaxed post-elopement brunch. Minnewaska State Park's mix of waterfalls, cliffs, and sky lakes makes it such a stunning spot for a micro wedding, and Phoebe and Al's day reminded us that a small guest list never means a small amount of love!!
