I remember drooling over XTR M950 as a young pup. The texture & color 🤤 unobtanium at the time it was simply out of reach for me, I had XT on my bike though. I still have a chip in my front tooth from changing a set of brake pads on the old M739 V-Brakes that serves a reminder of this era 🤣 I decided rather than use a set of pliers to remove the little metal clip securing the brake pad in its housing, that I’d just pull it out with my front teeth 😬.. Can still feel it today 😆
Fast forward to the 8th generation of XTR, M9200 & as we’ve come to expect it’s another level up 📈 The rear derailleur’s faster than ever & built to take a hit 🥊 Paired up via wireless Di2 ⚡️ the shifter’s still got that classic mechanical feel for an intuitive ‘flick of the thumb’ ta smash it up or down the cassette 🤙
Brake levers & calipers got a redesign with improved ergo’s, added system stiffness for consistent-controlled power delivery 😈 seems to be gettin’ on with ’em - Two WC DH wins in a row on the new stoppers 🔥
All these years later & I’m lucky enough to hang this stuff off my bikes & work closely with Japan testing the future of Shimano. Props to the engineers & product team that work so hard behind the scenes to create such incredible product. I’m honored to ride XTR, ブラボー 👊☺️🇯🇵
