Most people never see a beaver at work.

As the sun began to settle over the Rock River, this one surfaced watching us pass by silently on our boat before returning to the work that has shaped rivers and wetlands for generations.

Beavers don't simply live along waterways, they help create them. Their dam slow water, reduce erosion, and provide habitat for fish, birds, amphibians, and countless other species.

Sometimes the best wildlife encounters aren't dramatic. They're quiet reminders that life on the river continues whether we're watching or not.

High above the Rock river, an Osprey stands watch over its nest.

Platforms like this have become an important part of the Osprey's comeback. Providing safe nesting sites where suitable trees are scarce. It's a reminder that conservation isn't always about leaving nature untouched. Sometimes it's about giving wildlife the opportunity to thrive alongside us.

Every trip on the river reminds me that there are stories overhead, below the surface, and around every bend.

Galleries are updated! I took a much needed break from feeling the need to edit all the time and just focused on getting meaningful images. Three of these are from today looking at the Rock River after the failure of the Beloit Dam.

We've all seen a Blue Heron but how about a Green Heron??

The bird migration is coming through Southern Wisconsin!!

We were able to get out on the river today and the wildlife we were able to see was amazing! From a doe bedding down next to the river, an Osprey in flight, Painted Turtles basking in the sun, and the Heron's hanging out!

Check out the new gallery! More to come as we continue to observe birds coming through during migration.
