Hey everyone. I wanted to chime in for a minute….to talk about an idea that I have had for close to a year
Ever since the National Firebird Trans Am Club ceased to exist we have not had a standalone Firebird and Trans Am magazine within the Pontiac Hobby ever since. One of the things about the Firebird and Trans Am community is the fact that these cars have touched five different decades from the late 60s, throughout the 70s throughout the 80s throughout the 90s and the early 2000s. The one thing I’ve noticed about the community surrounding these cars after being part of it for over 25 years as the fact that it is a great group of people with a lot of younger kids getting into these cars. Every day I go into a Firebird or Trans Am group and see young kids buying up fourth generation cars, third generation cars, and second generation cars. Many of these people are bringing new life into these vehicles.
I have always said that many of the Pontiac clubs for example have overlooked a lot of these people and have never tapped into them the way they should have.
With that said over the last year, I have actually designed a layout for a Firebird and Trans Am magazine and have worked on it when I’ve had some spare time. These cars are pretty much where my expertise lies in the Pontiac world.
The question is, would any of you be interested in something like this? I have the means and the capacity to start it as far as all the software capable of creating the artwork, and layout of a magazine like this, and the experience to get it going, but I am curious if there would be any interest. There are a lot of possibilities of brainstormed with a couple of people and getting something like this going. It would probably be online only although I would entertain the possibility of doing a print version.
I have already reached out to a few people as far as a team of writers and contributors, and those folks range from people who are an expert when it comes to old school Pontiac builds to people that are experts on the LS platform. I think it could really work well and I would love to provide a resource to the Firebird and Trans Am community and fans like.
Curious, what all of you think?
