That didn't take long...
Meet KD1 (Kay-Dee) (posing in front of the camera), hatched March 2022 in the Prado Basin. Fortunately, she wears a bracelet that gives observers details of her age and where she came from. She wears mostly definitive plumage, indicative of a five year old bald eagle (note the remaining small patch of dark feathers on the top of her head). She Taught Us So Much
For years, we watched her endure mountain storms, standing sentinel even with snow piling high on her back. She never flinched and never stepped away from her duties. Nature was brutal at times, but she endured. Jackie was a masterclass in selfless devotion.
She brought a global community together, allowing us to witness pure, quiet grace high above the valley. Her wings may be still, but her fierce spirit stays in these mountains forever. Soar free, Jackie.
