“You must have a really nice camera” is something I hear ALL the time. I do, in fact, have two ‘nice’ cameras and thousands of dollars worth of lenses. But… it hasn’t always been that way. I shot many of my favorite images with a $400 used Canon 7D I bought at a camera store in the cities. I attended a workshop in the Grand Tetons with that and another Canon DSLR I paid less than $700 for. It’s not the camera… it’s not. I’ve taken pics with my cell phone that are pretty good. Don’t think that you need to spend thousands to take ‘good’ pictures. Buy a camera, learn to use it. Learn about composition and light and exposure. As one photographer told me a few years ago “shoot everything till you find your niche”. You don’t get stronger by sitting on the couch and you don’t learn photography or improve by leaving your camera on a shelf.

This is my third Mother's Day weekend in this house and I'm getting flowers! The snow crab in the back yard is starting to bloom. Interesting that there are blooms on the south side of the tree and buds on the north side.
