Last sunset, the evening before the storm, was absolutely spectacular. This is the view looking east toward the Southeast Lighthouse, with the goldenrod in full bloom perfectly decorating the cliffs. The warm golden tones of the flowers contrasted beautifully with the soft lavender and pink sky, while the lighthouse beacon was already flashing through the fading light.

A Great Horned Owl in flight, deep in the woods, completely focused on its target. For a bird that can disappear so effortlessly into the forest, seeing one like this in full flight is something truly special.

Hidden in plain sight. 🦉✨

Perfectly tucked into the tree canopy, this Great Horned Owl seemed almost to disappear into its surroundings.

Blending so naturally with the environment, it could easily go unnoticed by anyone passing nearby. Even with those incredible eyes, finding a great horned owl like this can be a matter of slowing down, looking carefully, and sometimes simply getting lucky.

Then, for just a brief moment, the warm morning light found its way through the trees, illuminating the owl and revealing what had been so perfectly concealed.

Waves crashing over the Old Harbor Jetty yesterday morning… 🌊

For a brief moment, the rain became much lighter and the scene suddenly brightened, revealing the incredible power and beauty of the ocean.

But it didn’t last long.

Just minutes later, the rain and wind intensified so dramatically that I could barely see anything in front of me. The storm completely swallowed the landscape.

The good news is that the worst of the wind is behind us. It looks like the sun is trying to break through, and there’s no heavy rain anywhere near the island at the moment.
Hopefully, things will continue to calm down from here. 🌤️🌊

Feel the power!!! 🌊🌊🌊
It felt like the waves were literally exploding every time they slammed into the jetty. The force was incredible - raw, wild, and completely unpredictable.
