You’re not actually camera shy🎥😰

You just need a plan and practice!

Like pretty much everything else, practice makes perfect. If you feel uneasy on camera, it’s not a permanent feeling. The more you get in front of the camera and practice talking to the camera, the more camera shyness seems to melt away.

Even while filming this batch of content, the first videos took me forever to get through, while the last videos I filmed went by super quick with minimal takes. Its all about gettin those reps in💪

Send this to someone that needs help with their camera confidence!

Too many brands fall into this trap💀

I see it all the time, businesses will get a hit of inspiration, start posting everyday for a week, aaaaaaand then they don’t post again for a month.

What happened?

A handful of things, but its hard keeping up with daily content while also keeping your business running. When people don’t see immediate results, that burnout hits faster and lasts longer.

“I tried posting every day but it didn’t work”

Its not the posting every day that didn’t work, its the fact that you got so wrapped up in posting daily that you left your strategy behind, and now your page is full of inconsistent low quality videos that don’t convert.

Focus on consistent, high quality content that’s worth spreading; NOT posting every day.

Has anyone else been talking about this???

I started to notice that myself and the people around me would scroll away from videos before the hook had even finished. As a vieeo producer who’s constantly studying social hooks, l started to ask myself what is making people scroll away before they even know what the video is about?

It’s because we do already know what it’s about. At least, to enough of a degree that we know we don’t want to watch it.
I’m dubbing this the First Frame Impression. After seeing so much content daily for years, our brains know what to expect from the first frame, not just the first 3-5 seconds.

The hook grabs attention, but the first frame creates an expectation.

Visual hooks sometimes play on this, starting with a video that looks like it was taken on snapchat but then cutting to something like a high quality produced music video. It creates the expectation and then breaks it in a visually interesting way.

I will definitely be mulling this over and seeing how I can fit this into my own video production. Have you seen other people talking about this???

Tbh I wouldn’t wanna miss out either!🍕

Loved talking with Mary from about her passion for teaching and her history at Melody Mart. More to come from her and the crew in the mini-doc we’re producing to celebrate their 70th anniversary!

At in Champaign today to grab some extra shots for a hiring video. Last time I was here I interviewed one of MCR’s employees Don about what he loved about working at MCR. With a full warehouse today I went back to get more clips of employees doing various work around the property. Stay tuned for final shots!

Check out these frames from yesterdays shoot with Midwest Construction Rentals in Champaign!

Had a great time getting to chat with Don, an employee of MCR, about why he loves working with MCR. Don mentioned that he’s a cancer survivor, and during his chemotherapy MCR was incredibly attentive and supportive to him and his family through the process. He also loves that every day is a new project, so he never gets bored!

Tony, the president of MCR, was fantastic to work with. Extremely kind and genuine. If you need any construction equipment, check out Midwest Construction Rentals in Bloomington or Champaign!

Had a really cool shoot today with Midwest Construction Rentals! Got to talk with the president of MCR, Tony, who was incredibly kind and great on camera. Was also able to speak with an employee, Don, who told us a little bit about why he loves working at MCR. As a cancer survivor, Don loves that MCR was flexible and supportive to him during chemotherapy. Additionally, Don told us about how he enjoys that he gets to wear a lot of different hats at MCR, so every day is something new and exciting.
