Live music + goosebumps; that unmistakable rush when the music hits just right. 👌
There were plenty of those moments in the park this summer, including this past weekend when Soul Porpoise helped bring another season of Music on the Park to a close in Rochester.
What makes these Sunday nights even more special is realizing just how much history they carry. I recently sat down with Joe Schenkman, who has spent the past 30 years bringing musicians to the Park each summer. Somewhere in our conversation, I learned just how far back the story goes. Rochester town records trace the tradition of summer music on the park back at least 125 years! 🖤
Different musicians, different generations, different versions of Rochester, all finding their way to the same place to share a little music on a summer Sunday. There’s something so beautiful about that.
I’m looking forward to hearing more of Joe’s stories, learning how the series became what it is today, and bringing some fresh ideas to the table to help spread the word for next summer.
Until then, a few moments from Sunday nights on the park this summer. 🎶
