I am sorry that the world wasn’t always kind to you.
I am sorry.
But I am proud of you for being here.
I am proud of you for trying to heal in the flood of all that felt unfair and cruel.
I am proud of you for continuing to stay soft in a world that sometimes favours distance over depth,
that sometimes fails to connect.
I am proud of you for the person you were, for the person you became, for the way you dug yourself out of the dark, for the way you pushed through the hurt.
I am proud of you for your hope.
I am proud of you for your belief in the goodness, for the way you focused on it when so many aspects of your life tried to convince you that it did not exist.
I am proud of you for choosing to heal.
I am proud of you.
You deserved a kinder goodbye.
You did not deserve what happened to you.
And yet — here you are.
Here you are ..

life will break us into many parts. some will pull you softly at the seams. some you will simply outgrow. some will crack and splinter sharply and leave a constant reminder of pain that once existed. and some will absolutely shatter you. being broken is necessary. being broken means that there is now space for some new light to shine through. or for a new passageway to reach you. or to be arranged in a brand new way. my love sometimes you have to break apart in order to break through.

English is confusing
See, it’s so hard to explain
Why curd and heard and word and bird
Don’t look but sound the same

One mouse, two mice, one louse, two lice
One house but it’s two houses
And though one spouse is quite enough
We don’t say spice but spouses

And how come red can rhyme with said
But bed can’t rhyme with paid?
And bear can’t rhyme with near
But can be spelled another way?

We can address an envelope
And be enveloped in a dress
And test and rest are just verbs and nouns
But it’s not the same for best

If a teacher did it yesterday,
We say that they have taught
But if a preacher gave a sermon
Then we don’t say they have praught

And why before and four and for
And their and they’re and there?
And why’s it two and too and to
And wares and wear and where?

Yes, English is confusing
With its many spelling patterns
‘Cause this bit’s German, that bit’s French
And this part, well that’s Latin

So when we look at English
And can distinguish read from read
We should remember we’ve the world to thank
For this language that we speak

This is all from the perspective of my accent so some of it might not rhyme/make sense for you - but it's just a bit of fun for a Sunday evening 🙂

loving the gone

sara rian

i was dragged into a new chapter that day.
one that started when your life ended.
i grabbed at the previous pages
but life ripped them away.
new chapters have come
and many of them good.
but i still find myself
wanting to go back.
to stay with you.
bookmarked.
in the part of my life
where you are still living.

Days Without You

The days drift on, one after another,
Silent and slow, like whispers on water,
Your absence a shadow cast long on my heart,
And I linger at home where we once felt whole.

The rooms breathe quieter, still and alone,
Walls seem to ache, knowing you’re gone,
In the patterns of light through the window’s soft veil,
I find hints of you in a memory's tale.

Dishes untouched, the air thick with wait,
Even the clock seems slower of late,
Counting each moment that pulls me along,
Lost in the cadence of hours too long.

I move through the motions, lost in routine,
Hoping that someday, I’ll see you in dreams,
Yet as days roll by, I sit here and know,
Love remains, even when time says, "Let go."

🥀In your absence, the air feels thick and heavy, suffocating my soul with the unbearable weight of missing you.
