A few days ago, I shared how I came up with my photography name and why I chose **Ann**. So now, let’s talk about where **Orellana** came from! 🤗📸
Like I mentioned before, I just wasn’t a fan of the sound or look of my first and last name together. It never really felt pretty to me, and honestly, I just wasn’t going for it 😂
If you didn’t know, I am part Latina on my mom’s side! 🤍 And no, I don’t speak Spanish, so don’t try me lol 😅😂
But one day, when my sister and I were younger—probably in middle school or high school—you know how kids start getting curious and asking their parents all kinds of questions. We ended up asking our mom what her last name was before she got married.
As she spelled it out for us and showed us old cards with her maiden name on them, I instantly fell in love with it. Ever since then, I remember wishing that was the last name she had passed down to me.
I won’t go into full detail about why I hate the last name I have now, but just know I **really hate my last name** 😂 I usually make it very well known how much I’m not a fan of it, so when it came time to create a name for my photography business, using my mom’s maiden name just felt right.
But there’s even more meaning behind **AnnOrellanaPhotography**. I also wanted to carry a piece of my mom and my aunt with me through this journey, and somehow, it all came together perfectly. My aunt’s middle name was **Ann**, and my mom’s name is **Ana**. 🤍🥹
So there we go… **Ann** represents a piece of both of them, and **Orellana** comes from my mom’s side of the family. It allows me to carry a little piece of my family with me while also embracing and letting my Latina side shine. 🤍📸
So, my photography name isn’t just a business name—it holds a little piece of me, my mom, my aunt, my family, and a part of my story. And I think that makes me love it even more. 🤗✨
