During this session, I jokingly kept reminding Sara to hold the belly so we could frame the star of the show. But Sara, in case you need reminding and especially on your birthday: YOU are the star of this show right now. You are growing a whole human from scratch, and you are radiating while doing it. You are going to be your child's sun, moon, stars and entire universe -- and from the way your husband is looking at you, we can tell you are already his.

I hope if you are ever struggling to find yourself and your purpose you can look at this picture and ones like it and remember the literal magic within you. Happy birthday!

When the Stiverson family was visiting us in coastal NC last month, we had planned for beach photos... but nature had different plans. While a balmy beach breeze is always welcome, the harsh wind that day was challenging and so we pivoted to Plan B, and landed at Wild Ginger Homestead which is just a short drive from Emerald Isle where there are trees and greenery for windbreak. (And ducks to feed!)

While it wasn't the original setting we had planned, we made the best of it and got some great family photos.

It's always a treat for me when I can get multiple generations in one photo.

It's even more of a treat when a kiddo who maybe wasn't super thrilled at the idea of spending the evening taking photos winds up telling me how much fun they had.

We had a great time on the shoreline with the Berry/Moore family.

All you really have to say to me is "I want photos of my dog for his first birthday" and I am 100% on board. I'm a little late with posting, but everyone say Happy Birthday, Odin!

Fun fact: You can fashion a tiny Yorkie-sized birthday hat from a full-sized birthday hat with a little bit of persistence.

I don't make it a habit of intentionally taking photos of strangers, but I just couldn't pass up this sweet moment. If anyone knows these folks, please tag them so I can get the full resolution photo to them!
