Contact: Portraits and Conversation In Close Contact is an independently produced portrait and interview series highlighting today's lea

In Close Contact is a documentary project created by music photographer Jacob Blickenstaff that combines intimate photographic portraits with candid interviews of creative musicians from a wide range of backgrounds and genres. The goal of each individual profile, and the project as a whole, is to provide a deeper insight into the lives, motivations and approaches of leading music-makers. Since its

inception in late 2013, the series has featured luminaries including Jackson Browne, Steve Earle, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Daniel Lanois, Robert Glasper and Joe Henry, among others, and has quickly gained the interest and support of leading artist managers, music publicists and other industry insiders. In Close Contact is archived here on its own website, and is also published online with media partner Mother Jones. The series has been well received by Mother Jones readers with over 46,000 Facebook interactions and 2,500 twitter mentions collectively. In Close Contact provides a meaningful and direct bridge between the artist and their audience. The long-term goal of the project is to create a large body of portraits and interviews for publication as a book and presentation as an exhibition.
