Bell Diamond Mine-Butte, MT
The Diamond Mine was a major copper and ore-producing mine from 1879-1928 and had a depth of 3,500 feet. This mine was originally owned by Copper King William Clark until 1895 when Anaconda Copper Mining Company took it over.
The Bell Mine was founded by T.C. Meader of Montana Mining Company who had a smelter nearby Meaderville. In 1914 they linked together underground and operated through the same shaft. It is one of the oldest standing gallows frames on Butte Hill. (storyofbuttedotorg)
