One thing I always remind my brides is to take a moment and really notice what’s happening around you. Your wedding day is one of the rare times in life when all of the people who mean the most to you are gathered in the same place, sharing in the same moments. The ones beside you while you’re getting ready, the ones who feel every bit of anticipation as the ceremony begins, the ones who celebrate you late into the night — they are a huge part of what makes the day feel the way it does. The energy, the emotion, the feeling you’ll remember years from now… it all comes from the people who were there with you.

When I’m taking a photograph, one of the first things I’m thinking about is how it will translate in black & white.

The first image is the photograph as it was captured. The second shows that same image the way I always envision my black & whites living: cleanly matted, framed, and at home.

When I chose how I wanted my own wedding photos to look, I wasn’t thinking about trends or Instagram. I was thinking about walls, albums, and how these images would feel decades from now. That’s what shaped my approach to black & white editing—for my own photographs and for every couple I work with.

My black & whites aren’t edited to be soft or faded. They’re edited with structure in mind: true blacks, clean whites, preserved texture, and controlled contrast. Skin stays natural. Detail stays crisp. Depth always matters.

Photos aren’t meant to live only on a screen—they’re meant to be printed, framed, and lived with 🖤
