Happy 90th birthday to Paul Sanborn, the king of Cape Coral history and an all-around great guy. If you know Paul, send him your regards today. If you don't know Paul, you should know that he worked for the Rosen Brothers who built Cape Coral back in the early 1960s. He been around since the first streets were laid out and he's still there today. He's a local treasure, we're proud to call him a friend and we wish him all the best on this milestone birthday.

RIP former Florida governor Claude Kirk. Many Cape Coral residents may forget that Kirk played a pivotal role in the city's history. It was his strained relationship with the Rosen brothers and his crackdown on shady Florida land developers that contributed to the Rosen's decision to sell their Gulf American company. Gulf American designed and built Cape Coral in the late 1950s and 1960s and sold properties to thousands of original residents and landowners.
