You have dedicated your life to service in the greatest profession there is, you are a firefighter.

It is the 25th anniversary of 9/11, the flag is raised on the tip of your aerial ladder and is ready for the pre-game moment of silence honoring those who lost their lives on that fateful day 25 years ago.

"The Stiff Arm".
Last night the Duxbury Dragons hit the road for their season opener against the Scituate Sailors. These two Titans of South Shore high school football have had some classics the last several years. I was a working news photographer for the decade of the 90’s, then I had a career change that changed my life. That’s another story entirely. Back to photography, I took a hiatus from seriously dedicating myself to my photography for 20 years. In the summer of 2021 I decided to rededicate myself to something that had meant so much to me in my earlier years. So, on a hot August Friday night I grabbed my gear and headed over to my old high school to shoot a high school football game. After that first game I was hooked, the passion was back. Most people have something that they just truly enjoy, my moment of zen is shooting sports, trying to capture “that moment”, as a good friend of mine always likes to say, “making memories”.

That 2021/2022 Duxbury High School football team will always have a special place in my heart, for many reasons! This photo is from a playoff game from that team. To this day it is still my favorite football photo I have shot, some for personal reasons and some because I was glad to see I still had some skills behind the camera.

Tomorrow night kicks off another season for the Dragons, and for me too.

The road to a championship is never easy, and in this year's MIAA Division 2 Elite 8 matchup, Duxbury traveled to Mansfield for a battle worthy of the postseason.

What followed was a hard fought, back and forth contest between two determined teams, with every possession carrying the weight of the season. In the end, it was the home team that emerged victorious, edging Duxbury by a final score of 8–6.

This MIAA playoff game between visiting Milton HS and the home Dragons from Duxbury HS provided plenty of action for those that came out to cheer on their teams.

A few weeks ago I went to Duxbury High School to shoot the Milton vs. Duxbury MIAA lacrosse playoff game. Duxbury was ranked #5 and Milton was #12.

During warm-ups a friend casually said to me, I heard the Milton goalie is really good. I turned my eye towards him as he was taking shots from his teammates. Huh, I thought to myself, he's really quick, cat like reflexes. My friend then said, he's one of the Captains, he's only a Junior, and he's headed to Navy after he graduates next year..Navy, I said? As in Annapolis? The United States Naval Academy? That's the one!

This Sweet 16 MIAA playoff game was quite a game. Duxbury went on to win the game 10-7, but even the casual fan could see that the Goalie for Milton was something special, as evidenced by this save he made....Without his stick in hand!

Best of luck to this young man in his future endeavors!

As a fan of lacrosse, the game I saw this evening was spectacular. Two teams that played the game as it should be. It was a very physical game between two evenly matched teams that happen to both be loaded with incredibly skilled lacrosse players.

As a fan of Duxbury lacrosse I found myself feeling very proud of my hometown team. It's never easy to lose that "last game". However, when, as a Team, you give everything you possibly can out there on the field, well….

Thank you for an incredible game and season of lacrosse Duxbury!
