The warm weather means most of the events are here, and I'm so excited about the incredible activities that are happening in the corridor! I've been enjoying how many opportunities are already going on, and I keep going out with my family to support local! 🎉

I recently completed a Dancing with the Stars event, a family shoot, and the graduation shoots for Iowa City grads! 💃🏾🎓

Next up, I have the events I always look forward to - Juneteenth and Pride! ✊🏽🏳️‍🌈

My name is Reldon, and I am the non-binary, biracial person behind Reldon's Lens, LLC. Becoming a photographer was always about embracing q***r joy, and I am so excited to experience again the joy and camaraderie that Pride Month brings! 🎉🎉🎉

Simultaneously, I recognize that being q***r right now is extraordinarily difficult. There's the duality of wanting to be out and loud to show you're a safe space and to be there for your community but also wanting to gauge your safety and protect yourself. There's the joy of community and representation, but there's also the consistent hate from nearly everywhere else. The pride in where we are and the fear of returning to terrible history - or worse..

And then, there's the euphoria of being accepted for who you genuinely are. The moments where the rest melts away, and you are safe, seen, and loved.

I understand because this is my experience, which is a shared experience. I am honored to walk beside others who share this joy, pain, and resilience. I cannot wait to see the joy this month brings for so many of the people I've come to know, respect, and love 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍🌈

On Memorial Day/Decoration Day, we honor the folks who have made the ultimate sacrifice. I particularly want to highlight that there are many folks who have served this country despite this country not serving them. Minorities of all types have been trampled on by this administration in particular, even those who have served this country and fought for the rights that they themselves continuously see stripped away.

Today is a day for honoring folks with flowers. We honor those who have died, yes, but don't forget to honor those who are still alive while there's time to tell them and show them in person. Give them their flowers. 💐
