KISSIMMEE: THEN & NOW — Episode 1

It’s hard to imagine what some of these places looked like in their heyday when you see them today.

I’m starting a new series exploring the places, buildings, and attractions that helped shape the Kissimmee area — from forgotten tourist destinations to major developments changing the landscape right before our eyes.

First stop: Seralago Resort.

Some of you may remember staying here, driving past it on vacation, or seeing it during a completely different time in Kissimmee’s history.

This is just the beginning. There’s a lot more to explore, and I’ll be documenting the changes along the way.

What place along US-192 should I visit next? And if you have memories of Seralago, I want to hear them.

Island Village is starting to look beautiful! The community center is nearing completion and opening soon, and the pool is now filled with water and surrounded by palm trees. It’s exciting to see these amenities coming together as the community continues to grow.

Filmed Thursday, this latest aerial update captures another big step forward for Island Village in Celebration.

Remember the former Orlando Sun Resort on US 192 near Disney? The property has been going through a major transformation, and I’ve been documenting the changes from the air.

It’s been fascinating to watch the abandoned resort transition through demolition, with buildings coming down, pools remaining visible, and enormous piles of debris left behind as the site is cleared.

Ovation Orlando represents the next chapter for this property. I’ll keep sharing aerial updates as the story continues.

Island Village Construction Update | Celebration, Florida

Island Village continues to evolve, and the changes are becoming more noticeable with each update.

New homes are rising, land clearing is expanding into additional areas, and some completed homes are now welcoming residents. The development is gradually transitioning from an active construction site into an established neighborhood.

Aerial photography provides a unique perspective on this transformation. From individual homes and roadways to the overall community layout, documenting the progress over time helps tell the bigger story of how Celebration continues to grow.

I’ll continue sharing updates as construction progresses.

The transformation continues at the former Orlando Sun Resort.

In this latest Ovation Orlando update, you can see crews and heavy equipment actively working across the property, clearing away the debris left from the demolition.

For those who have been following this series from the beginning, the change is pretty dramatic. We’ve gone from abandoned resort buildings, to demolition, to massive debris piles — and now those piles are starting to disappear.

What will this stretch of 192 near Disney look like when Ovation Orlando is complete?

I’ll keep documenting the progress from above as this property continues its transformation.

🏗️ Ovation Orlando Update | The Former Orlando Sun Resort

Another recognizable piece of the old Orlando Sun Resort is now gone.

The entrance monument that remained after the buildings were demolished has been removed, leaving even fewer traces of the resort that once stood here.

For this update, I also brought the drone down lower to give you a much better perspective of something that’s difficult to appreciate from the higher aerial views:

The sheer size of the debris piles.

From several hundred feet up, they don’t look particularly impressive. Get closer, and you begin to understand just how much material remains to be cleared from this massive property.

The pace of the transformation has definitely slowed since the major demolition work, but progress continues.

And we’re reaching an interesting point in this series.

For months, we’ve been watching the Orlando Sun Resort disappear.

Now we’re waiting to watch Ovation Orlando begin to emerge.

I’ll continue documenting the property from the air as the remaining debris is cleared and this site moves into the next stage of its redevelopment.

Three programs. One field. A whole lot of flag football. 🏈🔥

CF Strike Flag Football joined forces with Jungle Girls Flag Football and Mayhem Flag Football at West Orange High School for a joint practice — bringing athletes together to compete, learn, and push each other to get better.

Different teams. Same goal.

This is what growing the girls’ flag football community looks like: more reps, more competition, new connections, and athletes helping raise the level of the game across Central Florida.
