So much fun photographing this family again last fall on UNC campus. We chose UNC-Chapel Hill campus as the backdrop because this book-ish family wanted to capture their book-ish nature in their family photograph.

It was a super windy day at Fearrington but thankfully warm enough when we were in the sun. So loved that we got to include their grandfather

As always, lots of laughter and so much easy connection during my photography session with this Chapel Hill family and their graduating high school senior. We met up at the American To***co Campus in Durham NC on an uncharacteristically dark, cold May day. We crossed our fingers and went for it and what a perfect afternoon! We had the place to ourselves :). UNC Charlotte has no idea what’s about to hit their engineering department! Those of us who have known this senior since she was in preschool have always known she was engineering-bound! Celebrating this awesome senior felt extra special

I had the pleasure of another candid photography session with this awesome family whom I’ve been photographing since the youngest was about a year old. They've always chosen locations for their photography sessions out in the woods and I love that because I get to photograph them in their happy place. During this fall photography session, we collected sycamore leaves, climbed trees, walked barefoot through crisp fall leaves, found endless ways to cross the river and more but what I will remember most is the way this family rock-hopped all over the river like mountain goats ~ nimble and barefooted no less. It’s always a thrill when I get to document so much authentic presence.

This fabulous group of high school seniors is graduating next week. I am especially proud of each of these seniors, some of whom I’ve known since preschool. It’s been such a challenging couple years but these guys have persevered and deserve to be celebrated! Each of you have incredible gifts that shine. . . even when you might not always know it, you are indeed shining. (Sometimes our own gifts are the hardest to see). I see your tenacity, your wit, your self-advocacy, your creativity, your spark, and so much more. Congratulations! Each of you are amazing

I am once again playing catch up lol. I’ve got so many fall and spring sessions to share! Here are a few images from a family photography session this past fall. I first photographed this family when the oldest of the now teens/tweens was a 6-month old baby. And here we are. . . . amazing young adults with so much presence. We took a little hike on the Oconeechee trail in Hillsborough, with lots of stops for rock climbing and tree hugging along the way. I really really love it when our photography sessions take place at a location your family loves

I’m embarrassed not to have posted photography sessions from the fall yet. It’s quite clear that I’m terrible at keeping up with social media, posting sessions etc. Better late than never? Hoping so :). Here’s two cutie pie brothers from one of my fall photography mini-sessions. I’ve photographed these brothers since they were itty bitty newborns and they are a highlight of my fall photography sessions every single year. A few years ago they welcomed their gorgeous pup Savannah, who is always a part of our sessions. I love to include your pets in your photography session! I've known this young man for something like 16 years now and it's always a treat to be with him. . . smart, funny, athletic, and kind. William & Mary is lucky to have him and I have no doubt he is killing the first semester of his freshman year. xo~Kathleen

I photographed this Chapel Hill family on a misty, cool August morning in their sweet neighborhood. Having their family’s photography session right outside their home meant we could slip inside for a snack and that favorite toy. . . . one of the many things I love about home photography sessions is the convenience! Convenience and comfort. . . Being in their home environment meant they could relax, settle in quickly, and let their gentle, easy-going connection with each other really shine. What a beautiful way to spend my morning
