I always joke that my repeat clients are my guinea pigs...except they never actually feel like guinea pigs.

They show up, trust whatever random idea I've dreamed up, and somehow make it even better than I pictured.

This family comes back to me multiple times a year, and every session somehow tops the last. This one was hands down my favorite. We laughed more than the kids cried, explored until everyone was completely worn out, and ended the evening with these.

Looking at this photo, you'd never know there were snack breaks, dirt-covered knees, someone insisting they were "all done," or that we were basically making it up as we went. That's my favorite part. Family sessions aren't supposed to feel stiff. They're supposed to feel like your family.

My quilt minis are happening Saturday, September 12 in Norfolk, and I have a feeling they're going to be one of my favorite setups this fall.

One of my favorite things about maternity sessions is that they're never just about the baby bump.

They're about the family that's growing. The little hands that won't be little much longer. The stolen glances between Mom and Dad. And the toddler who inevitably reminds everyone she's the main character. 🤍

This knucklehead turns FIVE next week, and I'm still trying to figure out how that happened. 🥹

Henry has always been a Lightning McQueen guy. I don't think anything will ever take that #1 spot. But one friendly neighborhood superhero has been holding down second place for years now, so it only felt right to make him the star of this year's birthday photos. 🕷️

We haven't shot them yet, but I'm already counting down because I know this kid is going to have the time of his life.

And in case you were wondering, his birthday dinner request was dino nuggets. Some things never change. 😂❤️

It's hard to believe this was almost two years ago.

One of my favorite photos I've ever taken of Hayden is still this one. Tiny enough to fit in a basket, surrounded by wildflowers, completely unaware that he was about to become the boss of our house.

Looking back at this photo reminds me how quickly life changes. One minute you're swaddling a newborn, and the next they're talking back, stealing your snacks, and insisting they can do everything themselves.

That's exactly why I'll never stop taking pictures. The little moments don't feel little until they're gone.

Grace met me on the beach before most people had even started their day, and we were rewarded with the dreamiest light. No crazy props, no complicated posing. Just the ocean, a gorgeous sunrise, and photos that feel like her.

I've photographed a lot of homecomings over the years, and no two are ever the same.

Some families run. Some cry. Some laugh. Some don't let go for what feels like forever.
