A little late getting to Part 4 of booking a session with me… but better late than never šŸ˜… By now, we’ve covered what to expect on the day of your shoot—but what exactly is your photographer paying attention to behind the scenes? To give you a little bit of an idea, these are some of the things I'm paying attention to•

• Giving posing guidance
• Taking you to the best spots
• Fixing flyaway hair
• Straightening outfits/accessories
• Watching for awkward hand placement
• Making sure everyone’s eyes are open
• Adjusting on the fly for lighting/weather
• Getting variety (wide shots, close-ups, detail shots, smiling + candid moments)
• Reading energy levels

Basically… think of me as the ā€œmaid of honorā€ for your photo session—making sure all the little details are in place so you can relax, have fun, and just enjoy the experience!

As always, thank you to the lovely Carrie Ann for being my model and Captured By JenC for providing the behind the scenes pictures!!

Part 3 :-D

So, now we’ve discussed your vision and where you want it to come to life—but now you’re wondering what to expect on the day of your shoot. Should you be Googling ways not to pose awkwardly? What should you wear? Should you bring anything? And now that you think about it… you’re starting to feel a little nervous. After all, maybe you’ve never felt comfortable in front of a camera and have no idea what to do.

Here’s the good news: you do not have to figure any of that out on your own. My job isn’t just to take pictures—it’s to guide you through the entire process. From outfit help to natural posing and prompts that don’t feel awkward, I’ll help every step of the way.

You don’t need modeling experience. You don’t need to know what to do with your hands šŸ˜† Just show up as yourself, and we’ll create something beautiful together.

Below is an example of how I help my clients feel comfortable by making sure they know exactly what to expect on the day of their shoot.

Ok everyone!! Time for Part 2 of what happens when you book a session with me: Location Scouting + Planning!

So you’re finally ready to update those old band photos but you have absolutely no idea where to have them done. All you’ve got is a vibe and maybe a couple Pinterest photos.
Perfect! For me, that’s where the fun starts 😁
The setting can completely change the feel of your photos, so I help find a spot that matches what you’re going for—whether that’s uptown, a park/garden, somewhere meaningful to you, or even a hidden gem you may not have thought of. When planning a location, I’m thinking about things like:

-Lighting at the time we shoot
-Backgrounds and overall vibe
-How crowded a location might be
-Hidden spots that photograph beautifully
-Logistics: parking, accessibility, bathrooms nearby for outfit changes, permits if applicable, etc.

I’ll even research potential backup locations in case any complications arise such as changes in weather patterns. The goal is to make sure the location feels right for you and helps bring your vision to life šŸ˜

Life gets busy, schedules get packed—and sometimes there just isn’t time to meet in person to plan every little detail. That’s totally okay! You don’t have to figure everything out on your own. I’ll provide everything you need to feel confident going into your session—from my thoughts on different locations, to photos/examples, and guidance to help narrow down what feels most you.

A good photoshoot starts long before anyone ever steps in front of the camera.
So much of what goes into photography happens behind the scenes—things most clients never actually get to see. Over the next few days, I thought it would be fun to take you behind the scenes of what the process really looks like when you book a session with me! šŸ“ø

Part 1: The Consultation

This is where we get to know each other and start bringing your vision to life. Before any planning begins, we’ll chat about what you’re looking for and any ideas you already have in mind. This step helps me understand you and make sure we’re creating photos that feel authentic to your vision—not just pretty pictures. Below are just some of the details that are covered:

Vibe/mood
Purpose of photos/session type
Who’s involved
Inspiration
Availability/Timeline
Expectations: turnaround time, session length, etc.
Locations in mind (if any)

Once we’ve nailed down the vision, the next step is figuring out where to bring it to life.

Stay tuned for Part 2: Location Scouting + Planning!! 😁😁

Most of you know me for live music photography, and after the last year and a half capturing shows, i'm excited to start expanding into musician promo sessions and content for local artists and bands!

I love how every artist brings their own personality and creative style to the stage and I'd love the opportunity to capture that same individuality in a more intentional and creative setting. I know a lot of local bands rely on crowd photos for promotion, and my goal is simply to offer something high quality and authentic that artists can use for gig promotion and branding--without breaking the bank.

To get things started, I'll be offering introductory pricing for a limited number of promo sessions while I continue building this side of my portfolio! If you're a local band or artist interested in working together, feel free to reach out!

Huge thank you to Avery Creek for the incredible review šŸ˜ I had such a great time getting creative and capturing the vibe of this talented duo. They truly bring something special—definitely worth seeing live!
If you’re looking for plans tonight, go catch them at Oaklore Distilling from 6–9pm—you won’t regret it!
