Hi, I'm Erin.

If you're new here, welcome.

I'm a family and newborn photographer serving Richmond, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Harrisonburg, Staunton, and the surrounding areas.

I believe family photos should feel relaxed, connected, and genuine.

You don't need perfectly behaved children.

You don't need a picture-perfect home.

You don't need to know how to pose.

My goal is to create a space where you can simply be together while I document the connection that already exists.

The quiet moments.

The laughter.

The chaos.

The love.

Those are the things worth remembering.

I'm so glad you're here, and I can't wait to tell more families' stories this year.

When I think about some of my favorite memories from childhood, they aren't the big events.

They're the small things.

Family picnics.

Playing hide and seek until it got dark.

Sitting on the porch during a summer thunderstorm.

The feeling of being safe.

Being known.

Being together.

The moments themselves were ordinary.

But somehow, they became the memories that stayed.

That's one of the reasons I love family photography.

Because years from now, the image that means the most may not be the perfectly smiling portrait.

It might be the way your daughter wrapped her arms around your neck.

The way your son reached for your hand.

The way your family felt in this season of life.

The little moments often carry the biggest meaning.

One of the biggest misconceptions about family photos is that your children need to behave perfectly.

They don't.

In fact, the moment parents stop trying to make everything perfect is often the moment the magic happens.

When children feel less pressure, they relax. They play. They cuddle. They laugh.

And suddenly, we're no longer documenting a photoshoot.

We're documenting your family.

During my sessions, I guide you every step of the way so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands, where to stand, or how to get your kids to cooperate.

Your only job is to be present with the people you love.

The rest tends to take care of itself.

Your session does not need to feel complicated.
Think:
A slow evening walk.
Your child collecting rocks or flowers.
A conversation while the light fades.
Barefoot kids running through the grass.

One of the most common things parents tell me before a session is:

“I’m worried my kids won’t cooperate.”

You truly do not need to prepare your children to perform for photos.

They do not need to smile on command.
They do not need to sit still the entire time.
They do not need to become different versions of themselves.

Your children are already enough exactly as they are.

My sessions are intentionally relaxed because childhood is meant to be lived, not managed every second.

We leave room for movement, curiosity, personality, and connection.

That is where the real photographs happen.

It may be the way their tiny hand fit into yours.
The missing front teeth.
The curls at the back of their neck.
The way they looked at you when they thought no one noticed.

The small things are not separate from the story.

They are the story.

And they deserve to be remembered, too.

Not every session needs to feel posed or overly structured.
Sometimes the best photographs come from slowing down enough to simply be together.
A walk at sunset.
Holding your baby close.
Your children telling stories while you listen.
The in between moments that feel small now, but won’t always be.
You do not need to show up as a “perfect family.”
You just get to show up as yours.

A little chaos during your session is completely normal.

Kids get wiggly.
Someone needs a snack.
Toddlers suddenly decide they never want to stand still again.

That does not ruin your photos.

In fact, some of the most meaningful images happen in the middle of those real moments: the laughter after the running, the comfort after tears, the way your family naturally settles back into each other.

You do not need to manage every second for your session to be beautiful.

I’m not expecting perfection from your family.
I’m looking for connection.

And that already exists.

Not every moment needs to be polished to matter.

The way your child reaches for your hand without thinking.
The quiet way you tuck hair behind their ear.
The laughter that happens right after everything felt a little chaotic.

Those are the moments that stay.

Your session does not need perfect outfits, perfect behavior, or perfect light to be meaningful.

It just needs you there. Present. Connected. Real. That’s more than enough.
