There she goes again with her remarkable graceful leaping and climbing agility skills. 🧡

Red foxes can jump onto or clear obstacles up to 6 feet high. They use incredible leg power, sharp claws for traction on wooden surfaces, and a long bushy tail as a dynamic balancing pole to land with absolute precision on narrow fence lines. 😎

It was worth all the mosquitos. 😍

I was waiting for some deer to walk by and then these two surprised me. They were so far away, but I was able to watch them for while. 🥰

Flying on tattered wings. 💚

It might not be picture-perfect, but it's age and experience convey a different kind of beauty—that of creatures who don’t take life for granted or give in to setbacks. The wings may be torn, but this Red Spotted Purple butterfly is not broken. It is still flying, and still trying. It is a survivor. 💚

Hanging out with dragonflies 😎

After an hour of walking we found a nice variety but in reality we only caught a small glimpse of the 147 types of dragonflies that have been identified in Illinois. 💚

Dragonflies are fierce, ancient aerial hunters that catch up to 95% of their prey midair, fly up to 35 mph, and spend most of their lives underwater as nymphs. They are completely harmless to humans and do not sting.

An Eastern Kingbird . 😎

The kingbird gets its name from its bold, take-charge attitude and fearless defense of its territory. Even though it is a small songbird, it acts like a tiny monarch by aggressively chasing off much larger intruders—like hawks, crows, and jays—from its nest. Its scientific genus name, Tyrannus, means "tyrant" or "king"

As flycatchers, kingbirds use these elevated floral perches to dart out and catch flying insects rather than eat the seeds themselves.
