Lunar Eclipse and the Aurora!
This was from March, 2025. It was entirely too cloudy for another go at it last night.
I know that there were some high hopes that this combination would have been possible in the lower/middle latitudes last night. However, the incoming solar storms were running quite a bit slower than anticipated, so nothing materialized. In fact, the aurora data the past couple days have been impressively flat. This is why I personally haven't be involved in trying to forecast anything as of late. The hype, for me, is exhausting. And this field is basically entirely made up of uncertainties. Then people get upset when events do not pan out to match the hype. I haven taken the approach of knowing something was spotted and modeled, and then sitting back and waiting for it to show up in the solar wind data at L1.
Which brings me to...
The anticipated Coronal Hole + *likely* CME influence did arrive this morning. While not overly impressive at the moment, there's enough there to drive some middle-latitude aurora. So for those located in the more northern regions, keep an eye on the data and the sky. Ya know, if it's clear. 😊
