A friend came to visit, wanted to see the studio. So naturally we did headshots.

The difference when you already know someone is immediate.

No warmup, no small talk to break the ice, no five minutes of convincing them to relax. We just started shooting and the genuine stuff was there from frame one.

It’s a reminder that what I’m actually trying to recreate with every client is that feeling of photographing someone you already know. Shot this one at the studio in Chicago.

A fundraiser for a great cause, that I’m glad I got to learn about. The Stock School sounds like an incredible place, and I heard many stories in my short time at this event.

What you can’t see is him leaning over, arms behind his back, not great posture at all. But with a bit of cropping, and deciding what to show, you’d never know. Sometimes getting the most genuine look involves actual laughter. I was lucky enough to get that here, even though it meant the body positioning wasn’t ideal.
