This is what I believe photography is for.

Not the perfectly curated feed. Not the likes. The moment you hold someoneā€™s life up to the light and realize ā€” this person was paying attention. And now, so can you.

My fiancĆ©ā€™s grandfather almost threw away seven trays of Kodachrome slides. I bought a suitcase and made him a promise.

Going through his archive, I found 60 years of a life fully documented ā€” the Parthenon before scaffolding, strangers on streets in Germany, his homeland in Kefalonia, the flowers he arranged in his shop.
And somewhere in those trays, I found a piece of myself.

When I think about what photography truly is, I honestly get a little emotional. Itā€™s so easy to get caught up and scroll right past a moment when we are constantly inundated with images to process. But photography is so much more than a post on social media or an image in a frame.

I believe it is a true giftā€” one that extends far beyond the lifetime of the person who captured the image.

I am launching The Archives of Us to share the stories that feel they deserve more thought than an Instagram caption. Whether itā€™s a maternity announcement for a baby long-prayed for, or a box of Kodachrome slides found in a shed in Greece, I am looking for the pulseā€” the heartbeatā€” behind the image.

From my journey digitizing a family legacy to my own ā€œdelayed gratificationā€ wedding project this May, Iā€™m choosing the long way around. I want to rediscover the surprise inherent in the film tradition and honor the archive.

Moments with Jennifer | Amorella Events

Jennifer is my wedding planner and at this point, an extension of the family. Last September, she flew to Kefalonia with us to meet with vendors, scout locations, meet the two people who inspired this whole wedding in Greece, and get a general consensus for our vision for our May 2026 wedding day.

Being me, I encouraged Jennifer to embrace that traveling with a professional photographer means countless opportunities for genuine moments to be captured simply as they unfold.

So grateful she let me capture moments of her in her element, beaming about the brand she has created and the places it has and continues to take her.
